Club Info
Almond Valley cricket club was re-formed in 1989 and since then has been playing a range of Sunday and midweek fixtures from April through to September. Having used three different sites as the club's home pitch for the first fourteen years, we have been lucky enough to play at Doo'cot Park for the past five seasons and have now made it our permanent home. Doo'cot offers superb playing, netting and changing facilities and we are thankful to the generosity of the Gannochy Trust who own the ground. If you are interested in the club and want to know more you can email us at almondvalleycc@hotmail.co.uk

Just finished the match report from sunday.

Before anyone asks, i haven't checked it for spelling mistakes, incorrect fall of wickets, bad grammar, incorrect cricket terminology, or anything else. Just buried through it and sent it to the paper. If anyone reading this finds it weighted towards one person or another - tough.

Any young lads reading it who thinks i have done them a hardship - tough!

I have larnt from my mistakes over previous match reports so by reading this message you are agreeing to the AVCC way of cricket.....

    OUR OWN WAY!!!!

Living the dream baby! Oh yeah!

Well guys - i hear that Lumpy from the St Modans was on form again a couple of sundays ago. i wish i could have seen that and wound him up.

Goodness me Sluggo you appear to have upset someone. i thought that was my job?
To the young fellow who is writhing in angst against the comments of Sluggo, what he wrote is in the past which makes it History and, as you will learn as you grow older is that historians are great story tellers. More than half of history would sound like crap if it hadn't been embelished just a little so, pick youself up, dust youself off, grow a set and write your own future, only then can you be the Historian. Give us a good story!

After reading your column in the local Perthshire Advertiser i feel Somewhat Suprised that a club like Almond Valley C.C. with such a good reputation of sportsmanship could stoop to using such derogatory descriptions in the match report concerning the recent meeting at Doocot Park between Almond Valley C.C and Glendelvine C.C in the Strathmore and Perthshire Third Division.
Quotes Such as "Marshall tried to pull it back with a quick 14 before he top edged a poor Ross". Actually if i was that bad of a bowler your batsmen wouldnt have spooned my bowling straight down the throat of mid on.Not only is this terminology incorrect but surely is implemented in such a way as only to mis inform the reader of an unlucky wicket, the truth being i, a 14 year old bowler, picked up that wicket on the way to reaching figures of 3-18. This seems even more far fetched when one of the wickets i took of J. Taylor the batsmen who has scored over 4,300 runs for the club perhaps it was luck ....

Well gentlemen, let's hope the good winning form can carry over into the Kinross game. And that they bring along a 9 year old girl to get the McKenzies out....

Tut tut boys. Newman and I are real men, unlike you 2! I think we should give you each a tutu and watch you dance round each other touching and giggling.

Tubby bowling tosh? Read the bowling stats book boy! Oh yeah!

Newman - next net is this weekend (10th Feb), then we have 24th Feb and final indoor net of March 9th. Then its back to the bitter cold Scottish outdoors!

    Howdo !

I'm the person entrusted with the joyous task of sorting fixtures for Innellan Cricket Club this year. We have had fixtures in recent seasons and as our guys enjoyed the crack you boys seem to generate (we're pretty good at sledging our own too !) we were wondering if you might fancy a game this year?

Unfortunately as these things go - i only have a few dates left, both of which are in June...the 8th and the 22nd...not much flexibility there i know but if you would be interested give me a shout back and we'll see what we can arrange!

    Cheers, Robin Henry.

    Cricket banter, how bad........

anyway, I get a whole 3 weeks off for easter, so you poor avcc buggers might just have the misfortune of me appearing then.

Anyway, the three of you are as bad as each other, fat slow bowling tosh, sounds as much like you cant as it does Ginny or Ste. The cant bat bit just confirms it :P

Anyway, hope you have been having fun, Uni is great!!

Im off to do nothing all afternoon :L

    True say.

I love it when the McKenzie decides to twirls his leg side tosh. Six ahoy.

    And I'm REALLY rubbish.

Any chance of someone letting me know the dates of nets and fixtures? I don't think John has the right contact details any more and I should be able to play a bit more this year.

    Cheers.

    Yeah Canto,

has been a good turn out so far.

Good to see you doing your Billy Elliott impressions - may need to start wearing knee pads otherwise you won't have any knees left!

BUT, your keeping is far better than your bowling!

Good turn out at the last two nets guys, lets keep it going for the rest of the winter/spring!
Glad it's a few weeks till our next one though, I don't think my style of fielding is suited to indoors.......
